The Academies of Arts and Sciences work out guidelines, e.g. regarding ethical behaviour and set up fact sheets for new scientific subjects which are of interest to the society. Regularly, they turn to the public presenting their statements, e.g. regarding topics of science and politics and inform the media about important events.

«Hallers Landschaften und Gletscher»
Die Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz beteiligten sich 2008 mit zwei Veranstaltungen am 300. Geburtsjahr Albrecht von Hallers: Mit der Vortragsreihe «von Hallers Landschaften» organisiert durch die ICAS, und mit dem Jahreskongress der SCNAT «Hallers Gletscher heute», organisiert von der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft in Bern. Alle Beiträge dieser Veranstaltungen liegen nun in der 240-seitigen Publikation «Hallers Landschaften und Gletscher» als Sonderdruck der Mitteilungen der Naturforschenden Gesellschaft in Bern vor.

White paper on the Future of Education in Switzerland
In the future, over two thirds of a class should gain a qualification for tertiary education. At the same time, the development of interpersonal skills need to be supported. Education should not just provide the knowledge to perform professional duties; it should also provide a deeper understanding in order to deal appropriately with the world and society. This is
what the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences are proposing in their white paper ‘Zukunft Bildung Schweiz’ which defines the requirements on the Swiss education system in 2030 using a scenario to describe the future understanding of education in Switzerland. It makes recommendations on the Swiss education strategy and describes its implementation in a roadmap.
