Open Access

Open Access stands for free access, especially to scientific literature. The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences support the principle of Open Access in several ways.
Position paper of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences with the cornerstones of their policy.

Position paper of the SAMS: Call for the facilitation and acceleration of Open Access in order to increase the benefits of medical research for society.

Cochrane Library: The SAMS finances - together with the Federal Office of Public Health, university libraries and hospitals - the national licence for this library so that everyone living in Switzerland has free access to high-quality information from medical research.

Open Access Initiatives by SAHS: The scientific journals and series supported by the SAHS are to appear Open Access by 2020. With an annual contribution of approximately CHF 1.2 million to the nearly 80 titles, the SAHS is one of the most important supporting organisations for scientific publishing in Switzerland.
